A Christmas Carol – Back by Unmistakable Demand!

After the sell-out success of 2023 and 2024—both selling out almost a month before opening—Craig Wilde’s highly acclaimed adaptation of Charles Dickens’s timeless Christmas classic returns for 2025!

Directed by Jake Murray, this remarkable and intimate ‘in the round’ production unfolds once again in the magnificent 17th-century Great Room of Alderman Fenwick’s House, Pilgrim Street, in the very heart of Newcastle upon Tyne.

Once the grand dining room and bar salon of the former Queen’s Head Hotel—where Charles Dickens himself stayed, dining with guests and regaling them with his stories—this historic setting offers a truly unique connection to the great author.

With only 48 seats per night, audiences are placed at the very heart of the action. The room is transformed with sumptuous mid-Victorian Christmas decorations, flickering candlelight, and the warmth of a bygone festive age—creating an atmosphere so rich, you’ll feel as though you’ve stepped straight into Dickens’s world.

Please note the venue is not suitable for those who have limited mobility. The performance takes place on the first floor and the only way to access is through stairs (there are two landings between the ground floor and the first floor, so it’s possible to rest in between sets of steps). The venue is a grade one listed building.
